I waiting a few months for Finding Freedom to become available after I put it on hold at the library.
This book did not disappoint.
I learned a lot about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (love) and how the monarchy, also known as “the establishment” and “the firm” operates (do NOT like).
Keep in mind, this is not an autobiography, so you can pick and choose what you want to believe… I know you will anyway 😉
Finding Freedom by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand Book Summary and Review
Finding Freedom Book Summary
When news of the budding romance between a beloved English prince and an American actress broke, it captured the world’s attention and sparked an international media frenzy.
But while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have continued to make headlines—from their engagement, wedding, and birth of their son Archie to their unprecedented decision to step back from their royal lives—few know the true story of Harry and Meghan.
For the very first time, Finding Freedom goes beyond the headlines to reveal unknown details of Harry and Meghan’s life together, dispelling the many rumors and misconceptions that plague the couple on both sides of the pond.
As members of the select group of reporters that cover the British Royal Family and their engagements, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have witnessed the young couple’s lives as few outsiders can.
With unique access and written with the participation of those closest to the couple, Finding Freedom is an honest, up-close, and disarming portrait of a confident, influential, and forward-thinking couple who are unafraid to break with tradition, determined to create a new path away from the spotlight, and dedicated to building a humanitarian legacy that will make a profound difference in the world.

My Book Review for Finding Freedom
Finding Freedom has made me like Meghan and Harry more than I already did.
Getting an inside look at some things we only saw on TV was pretty cool.
I’m talking about everything from
- how her infamous dad fell victim (yes, victim) to the British paparazzi after two years of intense pressure,
- Kate Middleton not acting welcoming to Meghan… ever, (but I like to think this part isn’t true because I kinda like her too)
- why the royal family never appeared to have Harry’s and Meghan’s back,
- what characteristics Meghan had that caused so many in the palace(s) to judge her and fear she would become too popular,
- the wedding planning,
- and so much more.
Is it all true? Who the hell really knows?!
It’s not a biography, many sources aren’t named, and Harry and Meghan weren’t interviewed for the book… so take it however you want to take it.
It’s a book and it’s entertaining… that’s for sure.
I might need to add Suits to my to-watch list just to see Meghan in action.
Now, I’m patiently waiting for Harry and Meghan to get back on social media so I can cyberstalk them since I’m now a huge fan.

My Finding Freedom Book Recommendation
If you’re into the British royal scene, you’d love to read many of the behind the scenes stories in this book.
To be honest, I’m still a little confused about why the monarchy works the way it does in 2020.
(I’m honestly a little confused on their purpose as well since they don’t actually govern in the UK.)
I still loved the book because Prince Harry has always been my favorite royal… and Meghan is just too cool with her fashion and female empowerment endeavors.
My Finding Freedom Rating
I give Finding Freedom 4 out of 5 stars.Â
