Not everyone has the time to stay in the kitchen for hours to make the perfect meal. Whether you are a parent, student, or juggling multiple jobs, eating healthy can be difficult.

Fortunately, slow cookers make cooking less time-consuming… and easier. (Trust me, it’s hard to mess up a slow cooker recipe.) You can set it and forget it, at least for a few hours.

Here, you’ll find eight Hurst Beans slow cooker recipes you can whip up in your Crock Pot or Instant Pot. Almost all of these great recipes are for soup or include ham. I also share some Hurst Beans dip recipes as well as one Hurst Beans salad recipe too!

If you’re in the market for a new slow cooker, I suggest this 7-quart CrockPot for less than $40 on Amazon. You can also use an InstantPot. This is the one we use at home.

8 Hurst Beans Soup, Salad, and Dip Slow Cooker Recipes

1. Hurst Cajun 15 Beans Soup

When it comes to Hurst Beans slow cooker recipes, the 15 bean soup recipe is one of the most recommended soup recipes.

This easy recipe calls for andouille smoked sausages. However, if you don’t have that specific sausage, any other good-quality smoked sausage will work.

Prep Time: 15-20 minutes

Cook Time: 5 hours

Servings: 10

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of 20 oz. Hurst HamBeens Cajun 15 Bean Soup
  • 1 diced green bell pepper
  • 1 diced cup of celery
  • 1 diced yellow onion
  • 2 cloves of chopped garlic
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 pound of Andouille smoked sausage sliced into 1/4” rounds
  • 4 cups of water
  • 4 cups of chicken stock or chicken broth

Directions:

  1. Add the rinsed beans, pepper, onion, garlic, celery, water, chicken stock, and Hurst Cajun seasoning packet into a slow cooker.
  2. Stir the ingredients before putting the lid on the slow cooker and let the soup cook for five to six hours on a high heat setting.
  3. After the cooking time is over, check the beans. If the beans are tender, stir in the sausage and the tomatoes.
  4. Let it cook for another 20-30 minutes.
  5. Enjoy the Cajun 15 Beans Soup with bread or rice.

2. Vegan Hurst Cajun 15 Beans Soup

Not everyone eats meat, right? This soup recipe is nearly the same as the last one and equally delicious, but it’s a better fit for vegans and vegetarians.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 6 hours

Servings: 12

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of 20 oz. Hurst HamBeens Cajun 15 Bean Soup
  • 3 celery ribs
  • 3 diced carrots
  • 1 diced sweet onion
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. of dried oregano
  • 8 cups of water
  • 16 ounces of salsa
  • 15 ounces of drained whole kernel corn

Directions:

  1. First, add the rinsed beans, onion, celery, carrots, celery, bay leaf, oregano, and water to the slow cooker.
  2. Second, place the lid on the cooker and let the ingredients cook on high heat for about six hours. (Resist the urge to open the lid during this time.)
  3. Then, remove the bay leaf, sir in the corn, salsa, and cajun seasoning mix.
  4. Serve the soup garnished with chopped green onion and enjoy! Throw in a slice of corn bread too!

You’ll notice there is a lot of rinsing in these recipes. That’s to get rid of any unwanted debris from the food that comes from the ground.
