I don’t remember how One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London got on my radar. It was either from the #Bookstagram community on Instagram or something one of my connections was reading on GoodReads. However it fell into my lap, I’m glad it did because it’s a cute, fun read – like a fun Young Adult novel, but with sex.
About One to Watch
One to Watch is a USA Today best-selling book.
I’m a big fan of the author, because as you know, I like to Instagram and tweet about what I’m currently reading. Most of the time, the authors ignore this.
I’m not quite sure why they don’t want to interact with their readers. It’s not the best social media practice, to be honest.
Kate is actually social on social media. We tweeted back and forth and chatted about Ohio – a place we both lived and a place that has a special place in this book.
She also does a mean winged eyeliner.

One to Watch Book Summary
Bea Schumacher is a devastatingly stylish plus-size fashion blogger who has amazing friends, a devoted family, legions of Insta followers—and a massively broken heart.
Like the rest of America, Bea indulges in her weekly obsession: the hit reality show Main Squeeze. The fantasy dates! The kiss-off rejections! The surprising amount of guys named Chad!
But Bea is sick and tired of the lack of body diversity on the show. Since when is being a size zero a prerequisite for getting engaged on television?
Just when Bea has sworn off dating altogether, she gets an intriguing call: Main Squeeze wants her to be its next star, surrounded by men vying for her affections. Bea agrees, on one condition—under no circumstances will she actually fall in love.
She’s in this to supercharge her career, subvert harmful beauty standards, inspire women across America, and get a free hot air balloon ride. That’s it.
But when the cameras start rolling, Bea realizes things are more complicated than she anticipated. She’s in a whirlwind of sumptuous couture, Internet culture wars, sexy suitors, and an opportunity (or two, or five) to find messy, real-life love in the midst of a made-for-TV fairy tale.
In this joyful, wickedly observant debut, Bea has to decide whether it might just be worth trusting these men—and herself—for a chance to live happily ever after.
My Book Review for One to Watch
One to Watch is such a fun book.
Right away I was drawn to the book because the main character is a blogger. (And hello, you’re here on my blog right now!) I also shared it with a fellow blogger, Angela at @AngelaCruzTube, because she is a plus-size fashion blogger just like the main character in this book.
I also loved the book centered around a reality TV show I used to love to watch. (Two hours got to be a bit too long for me so I haven’t watched it in years, but know it’s still great!)
Just like in the show, you pick guys you root for and get really frustrated when the wrong ones stick around too long. Well, this book is no different… and just like every season, there is always a dramatic twist!
I usually talk about whether or not books should be turned into a movie, but this is already a show – it’s The Bachelorette!
My One to Watch Book Recommendation
If you are in the blogging space, are plus-sized, or watch The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, you will love this book.
My One to Watch Rating
I give One to Watch 4 out of 5 stars.
