Fellow romance book lovers, welcome to my deep dive into the steamy Twisted Series by Ana Huang — aka my new obsession. This four-book new adult romance series is pure gold.
While each book can technically stand alone, do yourself a favor and read them in order. Trust me, getting to know all the main characters and their tangled, delicious backstories just makes everything juicier.
Twisted Love Summary and Review
Let’s kick it off with the first book, Twisted Love. If you like brother’s best friend romances with a possessive antihero, sizzling sexual tension, and a heroine with a free spirit who refuses to be tamed, buckle up your sexy seatbelt because this one’s for you.
Meet Alex Volkov & Ava Chen
Alex Volkov is the ultimate face of an angel, icy exterior of a man type. He’s brilliant, rich, emotionally shut down, and has a heart of ice thanks to the nightmares of a childhood he barely survived.
The man literally lives next door to Ava when he ends up staying in her brother Josh’s house. Why? Because Josh is out of town and Alex is his best friend who’s been ordered to look after her.
Ava, our young woman protagonist, is sunshine incarnate. She’s a self-professed travel enthusiast, loves beautiful destinations, and wears her heart on her sleeve (even though she’s not without her own scars).
Her past includes childhood trauma, and the two of them couldn’t be more different. But you know what they say about opposites, right?
A Twisted Love Story with a Hint of Suspense
What starts as a reluctant roommate situation (next door, remember?) quickly spirals into a twisted love story full of explicit sexual content (yes, please!), a mutual attraction that neither can deny, and the kind of romance people write songs about.
The first half of the book builds that sexual tension like crazy, and by the time they finally cave… whew. Just know there’s a scene involving a little room that lives rent-free in my mind.
There’s more than just steam, though. The plot twist that hits near the end of the book? I did NOT see that coming. There’s a tightening net of a police investigation, some arrest warrants, and a revenge plot that may have you yelling at your Kindle.
It’s the kind of story that delivers both cute moments and vengeful fights, with a list of emotions that swings from butterflies to gut punches.
Why It’s a 5-Star Read for Me
I gave Twisted Love five stars because it hits everything I crave in contemporary romance.
There are deep, meaningful conversations, grand gestures, a loveable hero (yes, Alex eventually melts), and that sweet ache you get when two broken people find something worth fighting for.
Ana Huang’s writing style is effortless, snappy, emotional, and super in tune with what makes romance real-life relatable while still giving us fantasy-worthy drama.
Also, shoutout to Ava’s friends (who you’ll meet more in the next books) and Ava’s brother Josh, who has the going-away party that sets so much of this story into motion.
Spoiler alert coming…

That night of their worst breakup? Ooof. But just wait for the head-over-heels reconnections that follow.
If you love strong heroines, dark romances, and maybe a little control panel metaphor or two, you’re going to be obsessed with what’s next.
Twisted Games Summary and Review
Okay, I have a confession: I loved Twisted Love… but Twisted Games might just be my favorite of the entire series. And yes, I’m saying that knowing full well how swoony Alex was.
But something about a forbidden, slow-burn romance with a broody bodyguard and a modern-day princess? Oh, it just does things to me.
This one shifts the vibe big time. We move from angsty neighbor-boy drama to the glitz, pressure, and politics of royalty.
Our girl Bridget is not just any heroine. She’s literally a princess. Like, tiaras and castle duties and secret service level drama.
And Rhys? He’s her bodyguard. Straight-laced, lethal, emotionally walled-off Rhys. He’s the definition of off-limits. Naturally, the chemistry between them is insane.
The Ultimate Slow Burn
If you’re into the slow burn of all slow burns, this book delivers. Bridget and Rhys do this delicious dance around their feelings for what feels like forever. There’s tension, longing, late-night conversations that get too close to the truth, and so many almost-kisses.
And when they finally let go? Let’s just say it’s worth every page of build-up.
But here’s the thing: it’s not just about the romance. Bridget’s journey is equally compelling. She starts out as this polished, rule-following royal who’s been trained to put duty before everything. But as the story unfolds, you get to see her question all of that.
Her growth is empowering and kind of inspiring, honestly. She doesn’t just fall in love. She finds her voice and makes changes for women in power. Go girl!
Tropes, Tiaras & Total Chaos
This book checks all the trope boxes: forbidden love, forced proximity, opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine. And it throws in a few curveballs, too.
There’s political intrigue, family drama, and some genuinely emotional moments. It’s got all the glamour of a royal romance but still feels grounded, probably because Ana Huang knows exactly how to write characters that feel real even when their lives are anything but.
And Rhys? Look, I love a good emotionally unavailable man with a soft spot for exactly one woman. Watching him fight his feelings, protect Bridget, and finally crumble in the best way is so satisfying.
If you’re looking for a book that balances steamy tension with heartfelt vulnerability, Twisted Games is your jam. It gave me butterflies, made me laugh, and had amazing smutty scenes, once again.
But remember Ava’s brother Josh…
Twisted Hate Summary and Review
Okay, it’s time to talk about Twisted Hate, aka the enemies-with-benefits masterpiece that I didn’t know I needed until I was absolutely glued to the page. This one brings the heat, the sass, and some seriously spicy tension that had me grinning and blushing all at once.
In this book, we finally get Josh Chen’s story. Yes, that Josh — Ava’s brother and Bridget’s best friend. He’s cocky, hot, emotionally layered, and oh-so-fun to watch unravel.
His match? Jules Ambrose, who’s just as fiery and stubborn… and has hated him for years. And guess what? The feeling is very mutual.
But nothing stirs up a forbidden romance quite like being forced to spend time together. Between hospital shifts and a little trip where things get very out of hand, these two go from throwing verbal jabs to, well… let’s just say there’s no shortage of heat.
Enemies to Lovers
If you’re into the enemies-to-lovers trope, this book serves it up on a silver platter with a side of “just one bed” and “this is just physical… until it’s not.”
The banter? Impeccable.
The chemistry? Off the charts.
And when they finally admit there’s more to their hate-laced hookups? Oh, the swoon.
And I have to mention: they go on the best first date I’ve ever read in any book. I’m not kidding. It’s that good. It’s the kind of moment that makes you fall in love with Josh, even if you thought he was a little too cocky before. He’s thoughtful, charming, and that date? It’s pure magic.
So Much More Than Just the Heat
Don’t let the steamy scenes fool you. This book also tugs at your heart. Jules’ backstory is heavy and includes some mystery. The emotional depth in her character arc made me love her even more. And Josh’s protectiveness once he lets down his guard? Ugh, my heart.
By the end, I was totally rooting for them, not just as a couple, but as individuals.
If Twisted Hate isn’t on your TBR yet, fix that immediately. Then, tackle the last book in the Twisted series, which may be my second favorite.
Twisted Lies Summary and Review
We’ve made it to the final book in the Twisted series, and let me just say, Twisted Lies closes things out with a bang. Like, secrets, slow-burn angst, and so much chemistry kind of bang.
If you love a protective billionaire with a morally gray streak and a heroine who’s smart, independent, and just trying to stay one step ahead of her past, this is your moment.
And honestly? This one might be my favorite. It’s tied with Twisted Games for that top spot in this romance series. I just couldn’t get enough of the tension, the loyalty, the “I’d do anything for you” energy. Sigh.
This story centers on Stella Alonso — our sweet, sunshine influencer with a heart of gold and some serious trust issues. Christian Harper, who is… a whole situation. The man is calm, calculated, and has this intense “I’d burn the world for you but make it look like an accident” energy. And it is delicious.
Fake Dating Trope
The setup? Fake dating. Yes, that beloved trope we all live for (but I’ve never ever seen in real life). Stella needs a boyfriend on paper, and Christian? Well, he’s more than happy to play the role. Only he’s not playing, not really. From the jump, you can feel there’s way more going on behind Christian’s smirk and perfectly tailored suits.
And while we’re on the subject, can we just pause to appreciate how obsessed Christian is with Stella? Like, quietly watching over her, protecting her from behind the scenes, always a few steps ahead? It’s intense and borderline terrifying in the most oddly romantic way. No crumbs left behind. The man is all in.
Dark Secrets & Deeper Connections
What I love about Twisted Lies is that it’s not just about the romance (though it is top-tier). It’s about confronting your fears, letting go of control, and learning how to trust, especially when you’ve been hurt before.
Stella’s dealing with some heavy stuff, and Christian is walking that fine line between protector and control freak. But together? They make it work in the messiest, most human way possible.
Also, if you’re here for the spicy scenes, don’t worry. They are plentiful and perfectly timed. (Thank you, Ana Huang!)
A Perfect Send-Off
As the last book in the Twisted series, Twisted Lies ties up the loose ends with the friend group and gives everyone their moment. It felt like coming full circle in the best way. Watching all the characters you’ve grown to love over the series show up, cheer each other on, and find their versions of happiness? Chef’s kiss.
If you’ve made it this far in the series, don’t stop now. Christian and Stella will have you hooked, swooning, and maybe even tearing up a little.
Twisted Lies is a slow-burn, swoon-heavy, emotional rollercoaster that wraps the series with heart, heat, and one last hit of Ana Huang’s brilliance.

So there you have it! Four books, four unforgettable couples, and one wildly addictive series that had me in a full-blown book hangover.
The Twisted series is everything I love about romance: intense chemistry, emotional depth, laugh-out-loud moments, and characters who stay with you long after the last page.
