The New Mexico state cookie, Biscochito, is remarkable – crunchy, somewhat sweet, and uses an unusual herb.
This biscochito recipe reminds me of snickerdoodles, with a twist.
The biscochito (or bizcochito) is also simple to bake.
What makes the biscochito different from a typical sugar cookie is the adding of the herb anise, or aniseed, into the recipe. Apparently, anise is used to help upset stomachs and as an expectorant.
Biscochito is used during extraordinary festivals, wedding gatherings, and different occasions. These cookies are also common around the holiday too.
By following this simple biscochito recipe below, you can enjoy these cookies at your home.
