5 Ways to Get Rid of Hiccups
So. before hiccups hinder more opportunities, here are some tips you can use to get rid of your hiccups.
Hold your breath
No, you don’t need to do this or a long period of time. Just a couple of seconds every once in a while. All you have to do is take a deep breath and hold it. Do this a couple of times. This is one of the most popular hiccup tricks because when there’s a build up of carbon dioxide in your lungs, your diaphragm will relax which can help get rid of hiccups.
Ask someone to give you a good scare
There has been no scientific study about the relationship between being scared and hiccups but this way has been proven by myself personally.
Put pressure in your hands
Press the palm of your hand with your thumb and apply pressure to it – the harder the better. You can also squeeze the ball between your left thumb and your other finger of the right. This way, the discomfort will serve as a distraction that affects your nervous system and can potentially cure hiccups.
Stick out your tongue
You might look silly doing this. This can stimulate the opening between the vocal cords. You will be able to breathe more smoothly as it quells the spasms that cause hiccups.
Drink water upside down
I saved the best for last because this one works for me every time. Fill up a glass of water, bend over, and drink from the opposite end – then end you wouldn’t if you were sitting upright.
Good luck getting rid of your hiccups!
