Julianna plays soccer games once a week.

Bows with a clip are not allowed, so I needed to figure out a way to make bows for her and her team by just using ribbon and a rubber band.

I’m writing some instructions below, but it’s much easier to understand these directions if you watch the video.

To make this hair bow with ribbon you will need:

  1. Ribbon – however much you want and however long you want (we also used tulle)
  2. Scissors
  3. Glue gun
  4. Hair rubber bands

How to Make a Hair Bow With Ribbon

Step one:

Buy your ribbon that matches what you will wear with the bow.

For Julianna’s bow, we matched her team shirt with neon green tulle, neon green ribbon, a soccer ribbon, and a white ribbon.

Step two:

Cut the ribbon at different lengths so you can see each ribbon as they’re layered on top of each other.

Step three:

Cut the small white ribbon about one-inch long and set it over the other ribbons laying the opposite way. This ribbon will wrap all the other ones around it and the rubber band.

Step four:

Hold the rubber band behind all the ribbon and slowly start to wrap that one-inch white ribbon around the rubber band.

As you’re doing this, use a glue gun placing glue along that one-inch white ribbon wrapping it around, gluing as you go.

Step five:

Cut off the excess of that one-inch white ribbon… and you’re done!
