I recently posted a non-toy gift guide for kids. Some of my suggestions were centered around experiences, tickets, and other things to do. Because I live in the Palm Beaches, I mentioned a couple of great options in the area… but there are more.
So, this non-toy gift guide has a local, Palm Beach focus. Outside of the holidays, this is also a great list of things to do in West Palm Beach with kids.
Happy shopping… or should I say “experiencing” in Palm Beach County!
Things to do in West Palm Beach with Kids
1. Get a Membership
Memberships were one of the 15 things that made my non-toy list. Below, I list a few great ones for families in the Palm Beach area.
Not only do local memberships provide your family something to do on a regular basis, but you won’t feel rushed when you attend these places. Plus, when you buy a membership, you can save and it may pay off after a few visits.
I use the EveryParent App or head to the Children Services Council of Palm Beach County website to see all the fun places nearby. Right on the home page, if you click on local resources you find more things to do than you could ever imagine, and yes, some things listed include memberships. It’s like one-stop shopping!
These are my favorite three:
Palm Beach Zoo
The Palm Beach Zoo is a great place to visit year round. To make each visit a little difference, try a new animal experience. You have the change to get up close and personal with the coolest animals in the world when you reserve your once-in-a-lifetime and exclusive experience! Click here to get started!
Lion Country Safari
There is so much to see and do at Lion Country Safari… including some things you may have never realized, like giraffe painting. Yes, the giraffes will paint a masterpiece for you to take home! Click here to get in on that action!
South Florida Science Center and Aquarium
Something I love about the Science Center and Aquarium is that there is something new every time we go. Be sure to check out the website to see what the latest and greatest is. As I write this, dinosaurs have invaded the location! (You can book birthday parties there too. FUN!)
2. Adopt a Sea Turtle
Yes, you can adopt a sea turtle at Loggerhead Marinelife Center. I don’t think you can find a more unique gift than this! Not only are you helping to save an endangered or threatened species, but you can also visit your adopted sea turtle. Click here for more information about adopting a sea turtle.
3. Make it Educational
Shoppe 561 has TONS of baby and children’s themed educational gifts. My favorite? All the classes. Talk about an experience!
My daughters LOVES this stuff, so I will be signing up for some soap making classes, cooking, and jewelry making. Click here to see what other fun is in store at Shoppe 561.
4. Get Outside
Palm Beach has kid-friendly snorkeling spots, like Peanut Island. There is even a Snorkel Trail! Click here for more on that.
You can also go on fun tours like the one Leslie offers at Island Living Tour.
My kids love riding their bike, so make it fun by biking around the mansions of Palm Beach on the Lake Trail! Every week I’m in the area shooting for the Palm Beach Civic Association’s weekly newscast and it’s so pretty. I think have some fun riding around the island is a great idea! Check it out here.
5. Let’s Get Physical
Last but not least, ice skating at Palm Beach Ice Works. I had to include this one because my husband is Canadian and a former hockey player. My kids are also Canadian and love ice skating. To cool down on the ice, but get a work out while you’re at it, click here.
