Do you ever play the game, “If I won the lottery, I would…”? My husband and I do. He would spend his money on food. I would spend my money on a massage… every week.
Years ago, it was a fun thing to treat myself to, but today, it’s almost a necessity because I have chronic back pain.
I recently visited Sanda Gane European Day Spa in Wellington for a deep tissue massage. (Maxine, you’re the best!) It was great, and I’ve had another massage since then. It got me thinking: You should get a massage too!
Five Reasons to get a Massage
1. It relieves stress.
Trying to build my own business while raising two kids can be stressful. I’m on the go 16-hours a day, so it’s nice to take an hour to clear my mind, relax, and de-stress. I could get all technical and talk about trigger point therapy, but I hate it when “mom bloggers” pretend to be doctors online, so I’ll just leave it there.
2. It reduces pain.
This is the biggest reason I get massages. My lower back, shoulders, and neck are constantly tight, in knots, and in pain. Having all of those kinks worked out really is the best feeling everrrrr! I know I’m not alone here because this is the leading cause of job related disability. You’re not supposed to be on your feet all day AND you’re not supposed to sit all day. It’s hard to find a happy medium!

3. It improves sleep.
After I’ve relaxed and my back pain has subsided, I feel more comfortable and falling asleep is much easier… not to mention the oils and lotions the massage therapist uses to put you in a tranquil state stays with you till bed time. Plus, people who sleep well are generally healthier than those who don’t.
4. It just feels good.
I’m all about the back since that is a problem area for me, but I will never turn down a hand or foot massage. Those massages are on a whole different level. If you’ve ever had a hand or foot massage, this point needs no further explanation. Tweet this is you agree.

5. It increases good health.
After all of the toxins are worked out, you’re encouraged to drink water. Not only is that a reason to increase your water intake, but you’re likely to be more active since you are feeling better both physically and mentally.
