I recently got a shipment of the most amazing bread from Hero Bread™. I’m talking sliced white bread, tortillas, and burger buns. (Keep scrolling for a 10% off deal!)
My husband, who is a total health freak, was pretty excited about the nutritional card that came with my order. Something he loved was all the protein in the bread. In one bun, there are 10 grams of protein.
Obviously, you can order Hero from the company’s website linked below, but did you know you can also get it with your Subway order at some locations? Click or tap here to see where to find Hero at a sandwich shop near you.
How to Make a Subway Sandwich at Home
That’s when my husband and I decided to skip the fast-food restaurants and make a Subway Sandwich at home. He said the best choice for protein was the Chicken and Bacon Ranch.
Excluding the Hero burger bun, this sandwich has 34 grams of protein! For more nutrition facts, check out Subway’s website here.

This is what you need:
- One pack of Hero Burger Buns (linked here and in the image below with a special of 10% off for being here)
- One Rotisserie-Style Chicken
- Hickory Smoked Bacon
- Slices of Monterey Cheddar Cheese
- Peppercorn Ranch Dressing
After putting all the ingredients on the burger buns, we popped them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for just three minutes.
For our sandwich, we kept most of the condiments off, but you can go to town with dressings, vegetables, more meat, and more. Load on the black forest ham, sweet onion chicken teriyaki, genoa salami, green peppers, red onions, black olives, egg whites, etc.
That’s it! It’s really that easy.
If you want to make more Subway menu items with Hero Bread at home, try the meatball marinara, a turkey breast sandwich (with double meat for even more protein), or one of their vegetarian options.
French Toast
With the Hero Bread™ slices, we made my favorite breakfast food – french toast.
I won’t get into the recipe because it’s bread, eggs, and cinnamon… but if you add milk and vanilla extract, it takes your french toast to another level. So good!
Pork Tenderloin Wrap
With the Hero Bread™ tortillas, my husband wrapped up some pork tenderloin with spinach, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese, and garlic aioli.
Hero Bread™
Because I’m a sucker for learning the stories behind unique businesses, I learned while Hero doesn’t offer muffins, the brand started with a muffin. (Fun fact!)
In 2017, Hero founder Cole Glass had a craving for a muffin low in carbohydrates, but because of his food allergies, he couldn’t eat most healthy muffin ingredients.
Cole became obsessed with baking his own low-carb muffin… with led to thousands of muffins over two years.
Finally, he baked one that had 0 grams of net carbs (carbs in food that are fully digestible and absorbed by the body) and 0 grams of sugar. Fast forward a few years… and here we are.
Hero Bread™ looks, tastes, smells, and feels exactly like the “regular” bread you’re used to… because it is bread! The difference is that this bread is actually good for you (hence my husband’s excitement).
In addition to 0g net carbs Hero Bread™ also contains the following per slice:
- 4 grams of protein
- 10 grams of fiber
- 0 grams of sugar
- 40 calories
The best part? More products are coming soon. (Maybe muffins?)
Side note: I love that the sliced bread is baked in Westerville, Ohio. Go Buckeyes!
So, if you’re looking to live a healthier lifestyle, kick off a weight loss goal, reduce your carb intake, have less sodium, eat extra protein, or just cook an extra healthy meal, a great way to start is with sliced white bread, tortillas, and burger buns from Hero.
