When I started this lifestyle blog, I couldn’t decide on a niche. I still can’t, hence the lifestyle blog. Just about anything and everything I love falls under the lifestyle category. BUT, if you made me choose a niche, it’d be organization.
My daughter used to say I’d get “organxiety” when the house was messy. At first, I thought she was mispronouncing anxiety, but she was actually creating a word that describes my feelings perfectly when things are not organized.
How to Organize a Pantry
My mom recently found the YouTube channel “At Home with Nikki” and become slightly obsessed. (Rightfully so.) When she visited, we decided to organize my pantry.
Take a look at the video we created that includes a time-lapse of our pantry organizing.
1. Take everything out of the pantry.
Don’t try to organize a pantry without taking everything out. There is so much in there. Some things are hidden. Some things are expired. This is your pantry audit.
2. Clean the pantry and the floor.
Now that everything is out, wipe down all of the shelves and sweep the floor.
3. Organize your food into categories in baskets, containers, and risers.
You can buy these things anywhere – the Dollar Store, Wal-Mart, and if you’re really fancy, the Container Store.
4. Organize the baskets, containers, and risers in the pantry.
This is where you need to decide where you are going to group the same kinds of food items and determine what’s going to be most accessible. I like to see everything when I open up my pantry door, so I kept that in mind when I was putting everything back.
5. Label the containers.
I labeled my sugar and flour containers. You can label all of your baskets too!
